Information on the impact of the activities performed by the organizational unit consisting in launching an X-ray laboratory and launching and using X-ray devices on human health and the environment

Pursuant to art. 32c section 2 of the Atomic Law Act (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 623, as amended), I hereby inform that in the organizational unit:

DENTISTRY Aleksandra Szewczyk, Michał Szewczyk – Civil Partnership

os. Na Stoku 1

31-701 Kraków

activity related to exposure to ionizing radiation is performed, consisting of:

launching and using X-ray devices for medical diagnostic purposes: decision no. 2/96/2020 of June 23, 2020 issued by MPWIS in Kraków.
Launching a medical X-ray laboratory: decision no. 1/88/2020 of June 23, 2020 issued by MPWIS in Kraków.

Pursuant to art. 17 sec. 1 of the Atomic Law, in order to adjust the method of risk assessment to its expected level, the employees of the organizational unit were classified in category B of exposure. The assessment of employee exposure is conducted on the basis of dosimetric measurements using individual dosimetry in a manner that allows to determine the correctness of the classification of employees in this category.

Over the last 12 months, no exceedance of the dose limits specified for employees was found.

The dosimetric measurements of the distribution of the dose rate of ionizing X radiation around the X-ray machine confirmed that the construction of walls, ceilings, windows, doors and installed protective devices in the X-ray laboratory protect employees, members of the general population staying in the vicinity, from receiving doses specified in § 2 and § 3 sec. 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of August 21, 2006 (Journal of Laws No. 180, item 1325) during the year.

The head of the organizational unit shall ensure that activities related to exposure are carried out in accordance with the principle of optimization, which requires that – with reasonable consideration of economic and social factors and the current state of technical knowledge – the number of exposed employees and members of the general population and the probability of their exposure are as small as possible, and the doses of ionizing radiation received by them are as small as possible.

Based on the above information, it is concluded that the activities in the past 12 months have not had a negative impact on human health and the environment.

In connection with the performance of the activities described above, no radioactive substances are released into the environment.
